Abstract

Studying the innovation performance is always important because it is one of the ways for the achievement of sustainable competitive advantages. Therefore, the relationship between the transfer and absorption of knowledge and innovation performance (IP) on product and process in research-development (R&D) at the university is studied. The data were composed of 257 (R&D) groups of Spanish universities. Structural equation model (SEM) was used for the verification of the hypotheses.

The findings show that the relationship between the transfer and absorption of knowledge and DI on product and process has a direct and positive relationship in the sector. The results could be validated in other universities belonging to other geographical areas. Relevant information for the groups’ managers and a new management approach is provided.
