Author Guidelines

How to Submit a Manuscript

DYNA is a peer-reviewed journal publishing original contributions in multidisciplinary engineering with strong industrial relevance.
Authors wishing to submit a manuscript to DYNA must register in the journal's online submission system and follow the submission steps indicated on the platform.

Before submitting a manuscript, authors are strongly encouraged to carefully read the journal's Editorial Policies and Author Guidelines, which describe the scope of the journal, manuscript preparation requirements, ethical standards and editorial procedures.


Scope of the Journal

DYNA is a peer-reviewed journal that publishes original contributions in the field of multidisciplinary engineering, with a particular focus on applied research and industrial innovation.

The journal welcomes research that contributes to the design, development, modelling, optimisation and validation of engineering systems, materials, technologies and industrial processes.


Editorial Process

All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to verify their relevance to the journal’s scope and compliance with basic quality standards.

Suitable manuscripts are then evaluated through a double-blind peer review process, involving at least two independent reviewers.

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor may decide to:

  • Accept the manuscript

  • Request minor or major revisions

  • Reject the manuscript

This process ensures scientific quality, transparency and academic integrity.

Submission to Special Issues

DYNA periodically publishes Special Issues devoted to emerging topics in engineering.

Authors wishing to submit their manuscript to a Special Issue should consult the list of currently open calls available at the end of this page and indicate the corresponding Special Issue when submitting their manuscript through the journal’s submission system.

 


Types of Articles

DYNA publishes the following types of contributions:

  • Research Articles

  • Review Articles

  • Collaborations (Best Practices or Technical Reports)

  • Technical Notes

APC payment becomes due once the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication. Withdrawal of a manuscript after acceptance does not exempt the authors from payment of the applicable APC, as the editorial evaluation and peer-review process have already been completed.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Authors may use generative Artificial Intelligence tools to assist in the preparation of manuscripts. However, authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality and integrity of the submitted work.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors and their use must be clearly declared in the manuscript.

Authors should verify all AI-generated content, as such tools may produce inaccurate or biased information.


Publication Charges and Options

DYNA operates under a hybrid publishing model.

Publication charges may apply depending on the selected publication option, including:

  • Fast review + Open access: 2400 GBP
  • Fast review: 2000 GBP
  • Regular review + Open access: 1000 GBP
  • Regular review: 600 GBP

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet/include the following requirements:

  • This submission complies with the requirements set out in the Guidelines for Authors in the previous section (above).
  • Authors must submit additional author data (please, fill in the excel indicating name and surnames - without abbreviations - of all authors, their email addresses, their ORCID codes and their main profiles, such as ResearchGate, Scopus, WoS, Google Scholar).
  • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness and will be in Vancouver format. DOIs are included if available.
  • 6 digits UNESCO code corresponding to the article's subject matter
  • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
  • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
  • In the case of acceptance for publication, the authors assign non-exclusive rights to the publisher and agree to the payment of the APC costs, according to the selected amount option.
  • Declaration of use of AI if used in the creation of the article

 

Articles

It will include the results of original research, which may be theoretical, simulated or experimental. The proposed objectives and the results obtained or expected must be clearly stated, as well as their originality. With a maximum length of 5,500 words including abstract and references, it will contain a maximum of 40 bibliographical references, with figures or tables appropriate to the dimensions and length of a printed publication. The research can be basic or applied, the latter being preferable. If it is basic, at least the possible practical use of its conclusions must be proposed. 

Special ISSUE: Engineering and Strategic Responses to High-Tech Commoditization: Design, Digitalization, and Control of Complementary Assets ( November 2026)

Scope and Rationale
High-technology industries are increasingly exposed to rapid commoditization cycles driven by digitalization, modular product architectures, globalized supply chains, and platform-based competition. As technical knowledge becomes embedded in standardized components, tools, and production systems, competitive advantage often shifts from core invention toward the engineering and governance of complementary assets.
This Special Issue aims to explore how firms and industrial ecosystems respond to high-tech commoditization from both engineering and strategic perspectives. We seek contributions that integrate technological design decisions, digital transformation processes, and supply chain configurations with strategic and economic outcomes.
The issue particularly welcomes research grounded in industrial and engineering contexts, including manufacturing, energy systems, mobility, robotics, semiconductors, advanced materials, and Industry 4.0 environments.

Key topics may include (but are not limited to):

• Engineering design strategies (modularity, architecture, standards) to mitigate commoditization
• Platform engineering and ecosystem governance in industrial systems
• Digitalization, AI, and data ownership as sources of defensibility
• Servitization and digital service innovation in technology-intensive sectors
• Vertical integration vs. outsourcing trade-offs in high-tech supply chains
• Technology leakage and supplier absorption risks
• Protection mechanisms: patents, trade secrets, technical standards
• Quantitative models to assess sustainability of competitive advantage
• Financial and operational performance implications of commoditization
• Case studies of industrial success or failure in defending technological leadership
• Policy and regulatory implications in technology-driven markets 

Papers submitted must be of the type considered research in the fields indicated and must meet the requirements set out on the DYNA Journal website

They may be written in Spanish or English.

Special ISSUE: Simulation and Artificial Intelligence for Optimization and Decision-Making in Industrial Systems (September 2026)

Current industrial systems operate in an environment characterised by increasing complexity, digitalisation, and the need for rapid, well-founded decisions. The combination of advanced simulation techniques with artificial intelligence methods has become a key tool to understand processes, anticipate behaviours, and optimise resources at all levels of the value chain. This integration is one of the fundamental pillars of the evolution towards Industry 4.0 and is paving the way for the human centred and resilient approaches that characterise Industry 5.0.
Discrete, continuous, hybrid, or agent based simulation—together with predictive models, recommendation systems, optimisation algorithms, digital twins, and explainable AI approaches—makes it possible to address problems of planning, control, logistics, systems design, reliability, and sustainability with a level of accuracy that is difficult to achieve using traditional methods. This combination is driving a new generation of more efficient, resilient, and adaptive processes.
This special issue aims to bring together research addressing both methodological developments and practical applications of simulation and artificial intelligence to support decision making in industry, engineering, and advanced services.

Submitted manuscripts must qualify as research papers in the fields mentioned above and comply with the requirements specified on the DYNA Journal website. Papers may be written in Spanish or English.

Accepted articles may be published online immediately before the closure of the special issue, in accordance with DYNA’s editorial policy.
