Abstract

Hybrid reinforced composites present a wide range of  mechanical properties that it cannot be obtained with an only  type of reinforcement. Thus, that kind of materials has recently  aroused great interest for industrial applications. Particularly,  Kevlar-carbon plies are strongly appreciated in nautical  applications where resin degradation plays a critical role. In this  work, different hybrid Kevlar-carbon vinyl ester resin laminates  were carried out varying the sequence and the orientation  Kevlar-carbon plies. With these plies and by using different  cure conditions, composites were obtained what allowed us  to optimize thermic and mechanical properties of the parts  obtained. Maximum values of the mechanical properties were  obtained for all types of laminates after a cured cycle at room temperatures and post-cured treatment at 100ºC during 3  hours room temperature. Likewise, it has been proved that the  conFiguration of the laminates according to different orders of the involved layers influences greatly those properties.
