Abstract

Nowadays, there is not any specific software prepared for the inspection of anisotropic materials in the field of ultrasonic imaging. This current software considers anisotropic materials isotropic, and the results of the inspections are not optimum. Therefore, in this work an algorithm which considers the anisotropic character of these materials has been developed. For that purpose, using the CIVA 2023 software for inspections, five different materials with the same defect distribution have been simulated. The results of the algorithm which takes into consideration the anisotropy of the materials have been successful. The improvement on the location of the defects for the anisotropic algorithm has been of 80% on average with respect to the results of classic approaches considering a constant velocity for the material. Due to that, the efficiency and reliability of the developed algorithm opens a path for thegrowth of different algorithms to improve the quality of the inspections in anisotropic materials.
